Artist's Statement

Ever since I was a boy growing up in southern Japan, surrounded by mountains and the sea, I've been awed and inspired by nature.

 

The beauty and strength of wildlife have been a source of great happiness for me over the years, and even a glimpse of the divine.

 

And yet those same years have brought a growing sadness too, as climate change and other problems continue to disrupt the balance of our environment. Where are we, as human beings, trying to go? What kind of world do we want to live in?

 

I hope we will continue to ask ourselves these questions.
